  • A sophomore Theology course that introduces students to the field of scriptural exegesis, and explores the variety of ways Scripture is interpreted and portrayed through art.
  • Nine out of ten people in the world today proclaim their adherence to one of the numerous religions of the world.  How many of these, however, have actually made the effort to understand the theological foundations of their beliefs?  It is the aim of this course to present in systematic fashion an examination of belief, stemming from the sincere pursuit of answers to questions pertaining ultimately to the deepest mysteries of our existence.  The focus of our study will be Christianity, but throughout the course we will include the responses which non-Christian religions have given in order to gain insight into the richness of the religious experience.  It is hoped that, throughout this course, the student will begin to see her own religious tradition in a clearer light.
  • We all make decisions; we all have value preferences; we all exhibit qualities that we are proud of and other qualities about which we are less than pleased with ourselves.  This is a course about our own experience of the moral dimension of living.  Morality and ethics are, at their essence, the ability to make good choices for oneself, one’s neighbor and one’s world.  As we develop our morality, we deepen our relationship with God.  Through current events, scholarly articles, church thinkers, the textbook, and scripture, we will examine the vast amount of information available in the process of making an ethical decision.  Using Christian moral principles, the girls will be challenged to questions societal norms for morality and form a code of conduct which will guide them today, tomorrow and for years to come.
